The Paramount Theater has been chosen by the Thomas Jefferson Branch of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (APVA)/Preservation Virginia to receive its 2005 Annual Preservation Project of the Year Award. This honor was bestowed to the theater at an awards ceremony on Sunday November 13th, prior to The Paramount’s 2:00 PM showing of the classic film Gone With the Wind.
When considering The Paramount, the awards committee was "particularly impressed by the high quality attention given in the course of the restoration to the historic character and details of the original building," said Awards Committee Chairman Daniel Bluestone, UVA Associate Professor of architecture and Director of the Architecture School’s historic preservation program. "The project has returned to public use a building that has one of the most spectacular interior spaces in our region, and has added so substantially to the cultural life of Charlottesville and Central Virginia."

Moore's Electrical & Mechanical Construction, Inc. would like to announce being awarded the "Gold Seal Award" for the Best Overall Safety Program of Subcontractors in the VACO group for 2005 by Thomas Rutherfoord/VACO. Moore's Safety Director Steve Rogers and Company President A. Dale Moore accepted this award at the annual Rutherfoord/VACO meeting on October 26th, at the Glenwood Country Club in Charlottesville. This is the third year in a row Moore's Electrical & Mechanical Construction, Inc. has been awarded by Rutherfoord/VACO for its outstanding safety program. In 2003, Moore's was awarded for the "Most Improved" Safety Program, and in 2004 Moore’s received the "Best Overall Safety" award.

Mailing Services of Virginia (MSV), a Charlottesville, Virginia direct marketing company, has moved to a larger facility effective November 1, 2005. MSV relocated to space at 1180 Seminole Trail just north of downtown Charlottesville. The plant is about ten percent larger than MSV’s old location, which was in Ivy, Virginia, and is located in the old Comdial building, which has been subdivided into several businesses since Comdial left the facility.
"This space has many advantages both to our operation and our employees," said Dan Boyden, Sales Manager for MSV. "Our location is directly across the road from the main Charlottesville post office, which will increase our mailing efficiency and save on ever-increasing fuel costs."
MSV’s new address in Charlottesville will be 1180 Seminole Trail, Suite 195, Charlottesville, VA 22901. Its phone number remains the same at (434) 984-0006.
